A: Some good pointers would be to have a Basic Cartography Course or Aeronautical Charting course to know what is required in each chart. Knowledge of some drafting software like CAD or GIS general tools will allow easier transition. There are many free tutorials online also on the basics of COTS and opensource software that will later allow to create aviation charts.
Also get the PPL Pilots books and gain a pilot understanding/perspective of the charts. i.e. how to read them so that you can understand what should and should not be included on a chart.
